Hands to work as it were… I have most of my family helping out now, my mom crochets the tiny bonnets, one per day. My youngest looms preemie and newborn caps and my grandson helps with the fabric coordination and packaging…
I’ll spend an entire week of cutting, that week end sewing, next week trimming and flipping the following weekend ironing and top stitching. This is about 2 weeks efforts. This weekend I have kids, no sewing… next week I start up sewing for newborns… it’s a vicious circle!
Tiny yellow preemie or angel bonnet, super light and lemony, the tie at the back make the bonnet adjustable to fit a wee noggin. Yellow ties and a satin rose on the other side of the bonnet. August 2nd 2014
Boy handkerchief bonnets. Kind of difficult to find gender neutral hankies at the antique stores… either neutral ones are HUGE or so used up there no way I can make a bonnet out of them. Well that and I get the sneaking suspicion that bonnets are becoming quite passé and the idea of a bonnet on a boy even for a christening or naming ceremony is just not manly enough… I made 3 none the less! August 2nd 2014
Bonnets for older babies 3-6 months. Quite feminine these will be making the trek to God’s Tiny Angels for the addicted babies who are a bit older when they go home. August 2nd 2014
6 lovely newborn sized hankie bonnets super girlie. I have used up all my hankies! I am hankie free… what ever shall I do?!? These will be going to God’s Tiny Angels in West Virginia with the next shipment. August 2nd 2014
2 cheater quilts… found these at Walmart! Every once and a while I can locate cuteness there! These will be either going to God’s Tiny Angels or Project Linus… we’ll have to see how much space there is in the next box. August 3rd 2014
Whew completed a few things this weekend! Finished 8 large sized (32 week gestation) BOY sets of Teeny Tears diapers http://teenytears.blogspot.com/ with wee blankets, one cap with a coordinating ribbon and a tiny crocheted bonnet my mom made http://job121.wordpress.com/2013/10/08/angel-baby-bonnet-crochet-pattern-for-stillborn-babies . Super adorable! I have each set bagged up and waiting for a hospital to adopt! July 27th 2014
8 large (32 week gestation) GIRL set of Teeny Tears diapers http://teenytears.blogspot.com/ with wee blankets, one cap with coordinating ribbon and a tiny crocheted bonnet my mom made http://job121.wordpress.com/2013/10/08/angel-baby-bonnet-crochet-pattern-for-stillborn-babies/ . Each so dainty and feminine, each set is bagged and waiting for a hospital to adopt. July 27th 2014
Heaping pile of WIP: tinier blankets that will have matching small (18 week gestation) sized diapers, Burp Cloths and bibs awaiting their matching receiving blankets, Owl/Cat tag rattles that will go with the burp/bib/blanket sets waiting for the stuffing, rattles and stitching…and last but not least not a WIP…a finished preemie blanket made of cotton and Minky blanket with Minky…too fuzzy! July 28th 2014
3 wee newborn hankie bonnets… I think the 2 tiny ones on the right may be preemie or angel sized since they are SO small. Now that I’ve found Restore powder I have even more bonnets in process since I managed to get all the antique hankies clean! Alright not all, one is just not attractive at all, no idea why it went from old dingy to grey dingy… bleck! That one will be put back into the eventual hankie quilt box. July 28th 2014
Antique Hanky bonnets. Thankfully there’s an antique store close by that always has hankies! The 2 upper will be going in baby boy gifts. The pink applique will be going in a baby girl gift…the really fun crocheted one will be going to God’s Tiny Angels for a wee little girl… bummer I don’t have any babies available to put this one on it is SO cute! Just a Little Hankie
I am just a little hankie,
As square as can be;
But with a stitch or two,
They’ve made a bonnet out of me.
I’ll be worn home from the hospital, and on special days,
And then I’ll be carefully pressed and neatly packed away.
Then on the wedding, I have been told,
Every well dressed Bride must have something old.
So what would be more fitting than to find Little Old Me,
A few stitches snipped and a wedding handkerchief I will be!
And if per chance, it is a boy, someday he still will wed.
So to his spouse he can present the handkerchief once worn upon his head!
Found a couple of printed panels at JoAnn Fabrics when I ran there for ribbon…and yes the fabric isn’t really stored by the ribbon…Jaz located them for me…nonetheless…each panel has 2 bibs and 2 burp cloths on them so I bought a boy (monkey) and a girl (paisley Elephants) version…total cuteness! These I think I’ll put away for the next baby born but I also took a few measurements and out of a yard of flannel I can get a newborn receiving blanket and a matching bib and burp cloth to make cute little sets to donate… in this pile there are the bib and burp cloths as well as the next batch of large buntings…just need ironing and top stitching! Teeny tiny little bonnet crocheted by my mom. I got the pattern at Angel Outfittershttp://angeloutfitters.blogspot.com/2013/10/easy-crochet-angel-bonn… . I fear mom is quite addicted to making these now! I plan on putting some with the large buntings and any extras can go with the large Teeny Tears diapers…they are so tiny and adorable! This is an itty bitty doll whose head is about the size of a crab apple. January 26th 2014
